Driver arrested after being caught twice over legal limit

A motorist has been charged after being caught more than twice the legal drink-driving limit in northern Lincolnshire.

Police patrolling the Barnetby area stopped a vehicle linked to a driver previously dealt with for similar offences. Officers spoke to the motorist about their erratic driving, and they could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath when they spoke to them.

The driver admitted to having consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel. A roadside breath test returned a reading of 81 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath — more than double the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

The driver was arrested at the scene and has since been charged.
