Scene guard in place after cars set on fire in Cleethorpes

A police scene guard is in place after two cars were set on fire in Cleethorpes.

Emergency services were called to Mill Road at around 2.30AM on Tuesday 1 July, following reports that two people wearing balaclavas, believed to be aged between 18 and 21, arrived at a property on a motorbike. One of them is suspected of setting the vehicles alight, before both fled the area in the direction of Cambridge Street.

Police believe the people involved are known to each other. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.

Humberside Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Jack Bradford from the force’s Criminal Investigation Department said: “A scene guard remains in place at this time to allow officers to conduct house to house and CCTV enquiries to identify those involved and establish the full circumstances around the incident.

“At this time, we do believe the incident to have occurred between people known to each other, and thankfully no one sustained any injuries as a result.

“The motorbike is described as a blue Yamaha style motorbike, and the two people are described as being aged between 18-21-years-old.

“One of them is believed to have been wearing dark clothing with distinctive white stripes down the jacket top and trouser bottoms, with white trainers. The other is believed to have been wearing a black jacket with a grey hood and dark grey jogging bottoms.

“We would urge anyone with any information including CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 25*90320 or speak to officers when you see them out and about.”

Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous you can also report via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
