A fire that ripped through the roof of a house in Cleethorpes was started accidentally, fire investigators have determined.
Firefighters were called to the property on Grimsby Road at 10.25AM on Monday 30 June. Crews arrived to find a significant blaze in the roof, which was beginning to spread to neighbouring properties.
Five fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were deployed, with crews battling the flames for nearly three hours. Grimsby Road remained closed for most of the day, while a neighbouring GP surgery was also forced to shut – both have since reopened.

Investigators determined the fire began in a first-floor bedroom before spreading into the roof space and threatening adjacent buildings.
Witnesses told Gi Grimsby News they spotted the flames from a property at the rear and tried to break down the back door to alert anyone who might have been inside. Fortunately, the house was empty, and no one was injured.
A spokesperson for Humberside Fire and Rescue confirmed the blaze was accidental.
