Excitement is mounting ahead of the Shop Local music festival, which is coming to Cleethorpes this bank holiday weekend.
Taking place on Sunday 24 August at Cleethorpes Cricket Club, the festival promises a full day of live music and entertainment, alongside local traders.
This year’s line-up includes well known local bands such as Orphan Boy, Healer and Ever, alongside Shines, Mint, Sam Simmons, Last of the Wonder Kids, Lola + The Cosmic Getaway, Leon Blanchard and the Tiny Giants, Palm Trees of Venice, Elson, Sandra’s Wedding, Eden-Rae Lake, Brad Arliss, and DJ Guy Keeble.
Gi Grimsby News spoke to band Palm Trees of Venice about the significance of playing at a local setting. They said: “It’s an event that’s really been needed for quite some time, celebrating all things local and bringing everyone together in one place!
“There’s a lot of music history and hopefully a huge future between all the acts. We’re looking forward to catching Elson play again too! I hope events like this shine a light on the amount of time, money and effort organisers and acts put in.”
Organiser Andrew Tiplady – better known as Tippers – added: “I’ve always had a massive passion for music. I felt it was important to create something that really showcases the local scene, which often doesn’t get the reach it deserves.
“This event is driven by that passion. For many bands it’s hard to break through, so putting on a bill that mixes well-known names with those who are less established will hopefully give them the exposure they need.”
Tickets can be purchased at the venue.
