New animal care facility to open at Grimsby Institute

A major development at Grimsby Institute is nearing completion and set to open for the new school year.

Work on the state-of-the-art animal care teaching facility and veterinary practice began in 2024. At the time, a representative for the college said the project would “redefine” animal care education in the region.

The facility, based at the Nuns Corner campus, will feature a courtyard area, outdoor enclosures, an aviary, and a dedicated dog-walking and grooming space. It is designed to house and care for a wide variety of animals, including skunks, meerkats, rabbits, and primates.

In its latest update, a spokesperson for Grimsby Institute said the development is “almost ready for September”, adding that staff will soon be “setting up for students, moving in the menagerie, and welcoming our neighbours.”
