Excitement is building as Grimsby Town prepare to take on Premier League giants Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.
The Mariners were handed the blockbuster tie earlier this month, sparking huge buzz among supporters. The match will be played at Blundell Park on Wednesday 27 August, with kick-off at 8pm.
Fans have called the fixture a “dream draw,” and the reaction has been incredible, with season ticket sales reported to have surged. Tickets are being snapped up by season ticket holders and 1878 members, leaving plenty of supporters still eager to be part of the big night.
But if you don’t manage to get your hands on a ticket, don’t worry – you won’t miss out. The game will be broadcast live on ITV and Sky Sports Football, and plenty of local venues are gearing up to show the action on the big screen.
So whether you want the buzz of a packed pub or a lively fan zone atmosphere, here are some places to watch GTFC v Manchester United…
Docks Academy will be showing the match live on the big screen for free and no purchase necessary with doors opening from 7pm. To build the atmosphere, classic GTFC matches will also be playing in the taproom throughout the day from 12 noon.
At Racks Pool and Sports Bar in Grimsby, fans can enjoy the game with an extra incentive—everyone in the building gets a free drink every time the Mariners score.
Cleethorpes Cricket and Squash Club is also getting in on the action, screening the clash from 5.30pm with food served up by Gourmet Street Kitchen.
And if you’re looking for a more traditional matchday setting, plenty of pubs and social clubs across Grimsby and Cleethorpes will also be showing the game, including but not limited to Wilton Fields, The Old Post Sports Bar, The Haven Arms, The Old Vic, The Duke of Wellington, The Grosvenor, Old Clee Social Club, The Honest Lawyer, and many others!
