Hundreds gather for football match honouring David and Cameron Walsh

A memorial football match has been held today, Sunday 24 August, to remember local father and son David and Cameron Walsh, who tragically died in a car accident last year.

The match, played at the Linden Club, began with a moving minute’s applause as hundreds of people including David and Cameron’s family (pictured above) gathered to pay tribute. This is the second event held in their names, and has now become an annual fixture.

Funds raised from the day will go to the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.

Both David and Cameron were well known on the local football scene. Cameron had played for Grimsby Town’s youth team and previously Cleethorpes Town, while his father David both played and coached for Cleethorpes Town.

Today’s event brought the community together to celebrate their lives and love of the game, while supporting an important local cause.
