GTFC cancels home-end tickets bought by United supporters

Grimsby Town Football Club has confirmed that it has cancelled a number of tickets in the home areas of Blundell Park after it was found they had been purchased by Manchester United supporters.

The club confirmed the tickets were secured using 1878 Club Memberships but have since been revoked in line with EFL Ground Regulations, which are designed to protect the safety of all supporters and ensure home sections are occupied by Mariners fans only. The cancelled tickets will now be re-sold to fans on the waiting list.

A spokesperson clarified that as with all fixtures at Blundell Park, anyone wearing opposition colours will not be permitted into the home end.

In a statement, the club thanked supporters for their cooperation, adding that safety remains its “top priority.”

As previously reported, the upcoming fixture has been met with a buzz of excitement, with supporters queuing through the night and flooding the online system over the past few weeks to secure their place.

Fans are now eagerly counting down to kick-off at 8pm tomorrow, Wednesday 27 August.
