Demolition work on Osborne Street in Grimsby has reached the halfway stage, with council-owned units being cleared to make way for a new transport hub.

The project, led by North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC), will see the site become a hub linking the town’s railway station with other local transport options.

UDCS Demolition and Construction Service Ltd is carrying out the £339,000 demolition contract, funded by the Greater Lincolnshire Combined Authority. The overall first phase – which also includes creating a new internal road network and installing basic bus stop facilities – is expected to cost around £3.6 million.

This week, work is focusing on removing the building fronts, opening up a view from Osborne Street through to the railway line behind Abbey Walk – a sight not seen for around half a century.

Businesses in the area remain open as usual, and demolition is scheduled to finish in October before the project moves into the design stage.

Here’s a look at how the works are progressing so far…
