Police officers were given an unusual callout after a snake was spotted in a Lincolnshire garden – only to find a Royal Python hiding among the flower beds.
The force said officers never quite know what to expect when residents report a snake, with possibilities ranging from native adders and grass snakes to more exotic species.
In this case, the reptile had slithered partially behind a pond and down a hole, making it difficult to identify. One of the “older and braver” officers managed to coax it out with some cold water, revealing a huge Royal Python.

With the snake safely contained, officers contacted Boston Aquatics & Pets at Cowbridge Business Park, who agreed to house the animal temporarily.
Police are now appealing for the python’s owner to come forward, but say proof of ownership will be required. Anyone who believes the snake, which was found in Boston, belongs to them has 14 days to claim it.
In a light-hearted twist, officers nicknamed the reptile Monty the Python and praised the local pet shop for stepping in to help.
