Man arrested after e-bike rider left critically injured

A man has been arrested after an e-bike rider was left fighting for his life following a crash in Cleethorpes.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Grimsby Road and Elliston Street at around 10.20pm on Saturday, 13 September, after reports of a collision between an e-bike and a black saloon car.

The rider of the e-bike, a 36-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening head and leg injuries. He remains in a critical condition.

A 32-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Leading the investigation Detective Inspector Tom Kelly said: “Members of the local community can expect to see an ongoing police presence in and around the area over the coming days.

“A scene guard was put in place on Grimsby Road and Elliston Street whilst the investigation progressed, this has now been lifted. Officers have conducted extensive CCTV, forensic and house to house enquiries but we are continuing to establish the full circumstances, we would urge anyone with any information or concerns, to please speak to officers whilst they’re out and about.
