Dog beach ban to be lifted next week

Restrictions banning dogs from a large stretch of Cleethorpes Beach between Good Friday and September 30 will be lifted next week.

From Wednesday 1 October, dogs will once again be allowed on the sand between Wonderland Groyne and Cleethorpes Leisure Centre, until the seasonal ban comes back into force next spring.

The rule sparks debate every year. While some support the restrictions during the busy summer season, others argue people cause more litter and disruption than dogs.

Anyone caught exercising their dog in the restricted zone between Good Friday and October 1 risks prosecution and a fine of up to £100.
