Render crashes to ground from Grimsby building

Chunks of render fell from a building in Grimsby over the weekend, narrowly missing people passing by.

The incident happened at a premises on the corner of Victoria Street and Old Market Place on Sunday 28 September. Emergency crews from Humberside Fire and Rescue were called to the scene and cordoned off the area to protect the public.

Witnesses told Gi Grimsby News that the debris came close to striking pedestrians, but thankfully no one was injured.

North East Lincolnshire Council later confirmed that the pavement below the site has been secured and responsibility for investigations relating to the incident has been passed to the building owner.

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Building Control was called out to the incident on Sunday afternoon. A temporary closure of the pedestrian area is in place for safety while investigations are carried out by the building owners.”
