Several areas of Grimsby and Cleethorpes have been hit by unplanned power cuts amid challenging weather conditions.
According to Northern Powergrid, several areas of Waltham, Holton Le Clay and Scartho have been affected by a series of “unplanned power cuts” as Storm Amy continues.
The energy provider says that restoration is currently in progress, and if an estimated restoration time of 10:45PM to 11:45PM is offered, then they hope to restore power today or in the early hours of Sunday, October 5.
Some postcodes have reported power issues since 11PM last night (Oct 3), with others reporting issues this afternoon.
Across Northern Powergrid’s area of operations, over 50,000 people have been affected by damage and outages from Storm Amy as of earlier this morning.
Louise Lowes, Director of Customer Services at Northern Powergrid, said earlier today: “We’ve made good progress restoring power to 97% of customers impacted and are working hard to get power back to the remaining 3,600 customers impacted by Storm Amy.
“I want to apologise to customers who are waking up without power and reassure them that we are doing everything we can to repair the damage and restore power and will keep them updated on our progress throughout today.
“Our contact centre has been working around the clock answering customer calls. If you do need support, please reach out and use our live power cut map, as it holds the same information.
“We are offering welfare support to help customers without power and will contact those who have logged a power cut with locations for these.”
The power provider also stated it would offer additional support of up to £150 in the form of overnight accommodation for those who have been “severely impacted” by the storm, as well as offering £30 for essentials like hot food for those without power for 24 hours.
