The incident happened on Scotter Road in Scunthorpe at around 6.20pm on Sunday, 28 September. The woman was left with serious facial injuries.

Police say the victim was first approached by a man who claimed he was enquiring about a car for sale — he was turned away before returning and assaulting the woman.

The suspect is described as around 20-years-old, and approximately 5ft 7 inches tall, with short dark hair. He is believed to have been wearing a blue or turquoise coloured tracksuit top with a hood, blue tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers with black markings. He is believed to have arrived and left in a red Ford Focus believed to be on cloned plates.

Detective Inspector Charmian Bakersmith from Scunthorpe’s Criminal Investigation Department, said: “We understand an incident of this nature will naturally cause concern amongst the local community, and I would like to reassure residents that we are doing everything we can to identify those involved.
