Job fair to be held for Lindsey Oil Refinery workers

A job fair is being held to support workers affected by redundancies following the winding down of operations at Lindsey Oil Refinery (LOR).

The event aims to assist the hundreds of employees directly working at the refinery, as well as the thousands of contractors and supply chain workers impacted by the uncertainty surrounding the recent liquidation of parent company Prax.

So far, 125 workers have been given notice that their employment will end this month, while a further 255 will remain in post for now — though the long-term future of their roles remains unclear.

Hosted by the Job Centre, the fair will take place at Immingham Civic Centre between 10am and 2pm tomorrow, Thursday, 16 October. It follows a rally at LOR at 11am today, where workers and supporters will gather to call for the plant’s future to be secured.

Employers from similar indicators who will be attending include British Steel, Myenergi, HETA, Navigo, and ABP, among others.

The government has also introduced a separate training initiative for refinery employees, offering free courses to help staff retrain and transition into new roles.
