Workers gather outside Lindsey Oil Refinery in fight to save plant

Hundreds of supporters of the campaign to save Lindsey Oil Refinery gathered outside the plant in Immingham this morning, as calls to protect jobs grow increasingly urgent.

Workers, union representatives, and community members joined forces to demand action to safeguard thousands of direct and indirect jobs — and to secure the future of one of the UK’s key fuel supply sites.

The rally follows a series of demonstrations, including one at Parliament last month, but marks the first protest since 125 refinery workers were made redundant. Those affected are expected to leave by the end of October with only statutory redundancy pay. Thousands more roles across the supply chain are still at risk.

The event drew around 300 workers, supporters, union representatives, and the Mayor of Lincolnshire, Dame Andrea Jenkyns.

The refinery’s future remains uncertain as winding down continues. The independent Official Receiver says it is continuing  discussions with potential buyers, however claims continue to be made to by bidders that they jabs been unable to have their proposals heard in full.

More to follow.
