In a statement, a spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “We’re appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the person responsible. Did someone you know come home that night smelling of fire or smoke? Did you see or hear anything suspicious in the area? Has anyone been talking about the fire that may have been involved?”

Sergeant Jackson from Humberside Police added: “This kind of damage doesn’t just destroy property – it takes away a peaceful space that families, bird watchers, and nature lovers have cherished for years. It’s a real blow to the community, and we’re determined to find out who’s responsible.”

The force is already looking through CCTV in the area, with hopes of catching those who are responsible, and is asking anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact them on 101, quoting crime number 25*147833, or to report it anonymously through Crimestoppers.
