Gallery: Poppy Appeal launches in Grimsby

Grimsby’s Garden of Remembrance has opened in Freshney Place following a ceremony and a special service this morning, Monday 27 October.

The event was led by armed forces representatives, members of the church and attended by cadets and the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, who laid a wreath to mark the occasion.

The annual feature forms part of The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, which raises vital funds to support serving and former members of the armed forces. Money collected helps provide financial assistance, employment advice, and mental health support for veterans.

This year’s display includes a garden where people can leave memorial tributes in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday. Annual tradition is that all tributes will later be moved to Grimsby Cenotaph for the town’s remembrance service.
