Haverstoe Park Pavilion celebrates five years of supporting the community

Haverstoe Park Pavilion is celebrating five years of serving the local community.

The hub first opened its doors during the COVID-19 lockdown in November 2020. Since then, the pavilion has become a vital hub for residents, offering support, companionship, and access to affordable or free food. It provides a welcoming warm space for anyone in need, hosting community meals, social activities, and a lifeline that has helped thousands of people over the past five years.

The team behind the pavilion, made up of dedicated volunteers and staff, say they’re proud of how far the project has come and the difference it continues to make in people’s lives. They said they are “eternally grateful for all the support, the help, the well-wishers.”

Owner, Louise Alice, added: “I first viewed Haverstoe Park Pavilion back in 2017 so we’ve been open for five years but behind the scenes it’s been more than eight years in the making! We’ve had so much support from the local community – it’s been an incredible five years with a lot of ups and downs but it’s the community that’s kept us going. The winter is always a struggle for us because it’s so quiet in the park but we’re excitedly preparing for Christmas and Santa visiting us early in December.”

Louise also urged people to get involved and support the organisation.

“Times are getting tougher and we’re seeing a lot of local businesses struggle. We made it through last winter with amazing support from a crowdfund to cover the cost of our winter energy bills but this year, we’re looking for some incredible, driven people and their time – which we know is such a precious commodity nowadays,” she added.

Haverstoe Park Pavilion will open every weekend throughout November and December as a Warm Space, offering free hot drinks and snacks from 10am to 2pm.
