Decision over bus lane plans deferred after 11 objections

A decision over a new bus lane in Grimsby has been deferred to allow for further engagement with residents and local businesses.

As previously reported, North East Lincolnshire Council is considering introducing the lane on the eastbound side of Cleethorpe Road.

The proposal would remove free on-street parking spaces between Freeman Street and Victor Street to create a bus lane operating from 16:30 to 18:30, Monday to Saturday. The council said the change would “improve the punctuality of local bus services.”

However, the scheme has faced strong opposition, with 11 businesses and local councillors submitting formal objections, citing concerns over traffic and a loss of parking.

It has now been confirmed that the final decision has been deferred to allow more time for feedback.
