Grimsby’s first ever Christmas village is now open in Riverhead Square, bringing a full festive market experience to the town centre for the very first time.
The new attraction has transformed the area with traditional wooden chalets hosting more than 50 local traders, offering artisan gifts, festive treats and seasonal food. Organisers say they hope the event marks the start of something much bigger for Grimsby.
The ten-day Christmas village is a partnership between Good Hands Markets and Grimsby & Clee Eats, who say they are “going BIG… creating the perfect premium Christmas shopping experience with an outdoor bar, lots of delicious food, music, and a place to socialise with friends and family inside our cosy teepee”.

Food vendors are serving everything from festive mac and cheese and footlong fries to cheese toasties and gingerbread lattes, while well-known local names such as Dough Bros and Docks Beers offer festive twists on their signature items. The event also features a Scandinavian-style teepee for visitors to relax between browsing the stalls.
Organisers say they hope the Christmas village “grows into something special for Grimsby, becoming a tradition that we can all be proud of”. They also promise an appearance from “the real Santa” on Monday 1 December, with children invited to come along and say hello.
The Grimsby Christmas Village runs from Friday 28 November to Sunday 7 December. Opening hours are Friday to Saturday, 10am–8pm, and Sunday to Thursday, 10am–6.30pm.
