Motorists urged to prepare for Humber Bridge toll changes

Drivers are being urged to get ready for major changes to how tolls are paid at the Humber Bridge.

A new free-flow tolling system will launch in February 2026, removing the traditional booths and replacing them with automated technology. Motorists will instead pay online or at local PayPoint outlets. The rollout was originally planned for this year but was delayed to allow more time for testing.

Some toll prices will rise when the new system goes live. Under the new pricing structure, costs stay the same for account holders, while non-account drivers will pay £2 for cars, £5 for vans and £15 for HGVs. Motorcycles remain free, and the disability concession scheme will continue. South bank patients travelling to Castle Hill Hospital will still cross at no charge.

Ahead of the switch, the Humber Bridge Board has published a series of guides and is encouraging all bridge users to familiarise themselves with the changes, which it says will make paying “easier and more efficient”.

Its latest social media update includes links to tailored guides for HumberTAG account holders, non-account holders, concession users, and business or fleet customers – you can find them here.
