Firefighters called to deliberate blaze in Cleethorpes

An investigation has been launched after a derelict building in Cleethorpes was deliberately set alight.

Firefighters were called to Elm Avenue, at the rear of St Peter’s Avenue, shortly after 5pm on Saturday 13 December following reports of a rubbish fire.

Three fire engines attended the scene, where crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

Initial enquiries have determined the fire was started deliberately. A spokesperson for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said “with it being a derelict building, there would have been no power source.”

Fortunately nobody is believed to have been injured.

Updates to follow.
