Update as 25% of pitch frozen ahead of Cambridge United game

A pitch inspection will take place at midday today at the Cledara Abbey Stadium ahead of Grimsby Town’s scheduled fixture against Cambridge United.

According to officials at Cambridge United, the playing surface has stood up well to the recent spell of cold weather and was deemed playable throughout yesterday. However, following overnight temperatures dropping to around -6°C, some areas of the pitch have been affected.

As of 8am this morning, around 75% of the surface remains in good condition, with the remaining 25% requiring further attention.

The grounds team are continuing to work on the affected areas and will continue their efforts throughout the morning in an attempt to ensure the match can go ahead as planned.

Updates to follow.
