A new independent retailer, Silver Tree, has opened at Freshney Place.
The shop has taken over the former Claire’s unit and sells a range of jewellery, home accessories and gift items.
The opening comes as work continues on the Freshney Place Leisure scheme, a £50 million redevelopment which aims to transform the centre into a mixed leisure and retail destination, including plans for a new market hall and cinema.
Centre managers say occupancy currently stands at around 95%. Silver Tree is the latest business to take up space at the shopping centre despite wider challenges facing high streets across the UK.
Elliott Andrews, Centre Manager at Freshney Place, commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome Silver Tree to our impressive tenant line-up. Their addition as a local independent retailer brings even greater choice for our customers. Our transformation into a new retail and leisure hub is well underway, and it’s fantastic to see businesses investing in that journey alongside us.”
The Leader of North-East Lincolnshire Council, Councillor Philip Jackson, added: “It’s welcome news to see a local business, like Silver Tree opening in Freshney Place. When the Council made the decision to purchase the centre, it was with the intention of growing opportunities as well as safeguarding around 1,700 jobs. Supporting local businesses is an important part of this.”
