Tragedy as man dies three weeks after M180 collision

An 86-year-old man has sadly died three weeks after his car collided with an embankment on the M180, just days before Christmas.

The single-vehicle collision occurred on Tuesday 23 December 2025. At around 10.25am, a white Mercedes was reportedly travelling westbound between junctions one and two when, for reasons not yet known, it left the carriageway and struck an embankment.

Emergency services attended, and the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He sadly died from those injuries on Wednesday 14 January 2026.

Humberside Police have informed the man’s family, who are being supported by specially trained officers and have requested privacy at this difficult time.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage and has not yet spoken to police, to contact them on the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 109 of 23 December.
