Dockside housing project moves forward

Early groundwork is now taking place at Grimsby’s Alexandra Dock as plans progress for a major new housing development, with construction expected to start in early 2026.

The £20 million scheme, being delivered by Keepmoat Homes, will provide more than 120 new homes, including houses, apartments and a significant proportion of affordable and social rent properties, alongside new commercial units.

Just under half of the homes will be made available for social rent in partnership with a local housing association.

Funding has been secured through the Grimsby Towns Fund and Homes England. Although a firm construction start date has yet to be announced, ground preparation work is underway and the project has received full planning approval.

Richard Gough, Operations Director at Keepmoat, Yorkshire East previously said: “We’re thrilled to secure planning to breathe new life into Alexandra Dock. This project represents a significant investment in the area and we’re looking forward to working alongside our partners to bring forward a brownfield piece of land set for regeneration. At Keepmoat, we are proud to build communities and transform lives. Grimsby is a fantastic location, offering a range of amenities and strong transport links. ”
