Health officials have issued a warning after a series of suspected drug overdoses left four people unconscious in Grimsby.
Emergency services were called to multiple addresses between 7pm and midnight on Saturday, 24 January, following reports of unresponsive individuals. The overdoses are believed to involve substances including heroin and a synthetic amphetamine.
Police subsequently executed warrants at addresses on Robert Pearson Mews, Castle Street in Grimsby, and Cambridge Street in Cleethorpes. Ten men were arrested during the evening — seven at Robert Pearson Mews, two on Cambridge Street, and one on Castle Street. Officers recovered quantities of suspected Class A, B, and C drugs, along with cash and mobile phones. Scene guards remain in place on Castle Street and Robert Pearson Mews as enquiries continue.
Those arrested range in age from 18 to 39 and are all suspected of involvement in the supply of Class A drugs.
Health officials are urging anyone who uses drugs to take extra precautions, including avoiding using alone, carrying naloxone and knowing how to use it, and calling 999 immediately in an emergency.
Geoff Barnes, Deputy Director of Public Health for Northern Lincolnshire, said: “We know that there’s some harmful drugs circulating in the Grimsby area. These drugs can cause a very sudden overdose which can be life threatening. It’s really important to follow the advice issued to protect both yourself and your friends.”
Police enquiries are ongoing.
