Plans for Blundell Park extension submitted to Council

Planning applications submitted to North East Lincolnshire Council reveal that Blundell Park is proposing additional facilities to be constructed for the site.

Plans submitted earlier this year are for the “erection of a single storey extension to form additional toilets and alterations to Mariners Trust Bar” and are currently “pending consideration”.

The Mariners Trust Bar currently provides fans with a facility before, during, and after matches, with toilets currently accessible from the concourse.

According to planning documents, the proposal “seeks to re-configure current toilet facilities to provide a greater layout, which in turn will provide fans with better facilities when required during the matchday.”

Furthermore, “the creation of a new ladies toilet and greater provision is welcomed by Trust users and the fanbase.”

The alterations will allow the Mariners Trust Bar to use existing space for other activities to “engage further with supporters and the community.”

The plans outline that the existing male and female toilets will be converted into one toilet for males to allow an “in and out arrangement when visiting”.

A former store will be converted into a unisex bathroom, with the new extension forming the new female toilets.

A decision is expected to be reached by Friday, 31st of May 2024.
