Grimsby teenager Aidan, who writes under the pen name A. T. Wright, has released his first book titled “The Legends of Ace Ford: The Northern Travels” at just 14 years old.
The novel is the first of a four-part fantasy adventure series titled “The Legends of Ace Ford”.
Aidan set out to write the book when he was 13, following his ambitions to achieve his dream job of being an author. He spent seven months writing the first installment in the series, often spending a few hours after school each evening writing.
The series is based upon the adventures of Ace Ford and his four companions, Libbie, Jim, Becky, and Austin, who are all orphans in a San Diego orphanage, when one day, upon a trip to the beach, they find their lives turned upside down.
With his passion apparent, Aidan has already written the next few installments in the series and is now starting to write the final installment.
When speaking about his ambitions, Aidan said, “I’ve always had an active imagination. When discussing with my mum what potential options I might want to take to exam level at school, a path to becoming an author was at the forefront of my mind.”
Aidan’s mother, Colleen, seems to be a strong motivational force behind Aidan’s efforts.
Aidan said, “My mum asked me why I was waiting to start writing when I was older and not just getting on with it now, so I just started writing.”
When speaking about her son, Colleen explained how he “is so motivated and really enjoys his writing. I encouraged him to start writing right away whilst his imagination was at its prime. The plot of the books are tucked away in his mind, and he knows exactly where the characters are heading. I’m just so proud of him. The book has made me laugh and cry, and it has been a real pleasure to be the first to see the story unfold.”
