Grimsby’s new Horizon Youth Zone will officially open its doors to the public next month.
A grand opening ceremony on Saturday, 14 February will mark the start of a new chapter for children and young people across North East Lincolnshire.
The centre is housed within the beautifully restored and repurposed Grade II listed West Haven Maltings and Migar House. The transformation preserves the town’s industrial heritage while creating a modern, fully accessible space for the next generation.
Once open, Horizon will offer a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities, including an indoor climbing wall, a music room with a built-in recording studio, performing arts space, arts and crafts areas, and a maker zone featuring 3D printing equipment.
Sports facilities will include a 3G kick pitch, boxing gym, sports hall and fully equipped gym. The Youth Zone is open to young people aged eight to 19, or up to 25 for those with additional needs.
Annual membership costs £5 with sessions priced at 50p.
Lucy Ottewell-Key, CEO of Horizon Youth Zone, said: “We’re thrilled to be announcing our opening date which marks the next chapter of our exciting story. During the past months we’ve welcomed children and young people from across the area for taster sessions and their feedback has been incredible.
“The whole team are so excited to be opening our doors fully and seeing the impact it will have on children and young people across North East Lincolnshire.
“We’re incredibly grateful to North East Lincolnshire Council, our Capital Funders including National Lottery Heritage Fund andYouth Investment Fund, OnSide, our amazing family of Cornerstone and Founder Patrons, and our board of trustees who have made this all possible.”
A community open day is being held at Horizon Youth Zone on Saturday 14th February, 10am – 3pm, which is free for all to attend.
