A Grimsby bus driver is celebrating his retirement after an incredible 46 years helping people across the region get where they need to go.

David Kerrigan is stepping down after nearly five decades behind the wheel for Stagecoach East Midlands, during which he became a familiar and friendly face to passengers, known for his high standards of driving and his wealth of experience on the region’s roads.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “It is quite a momentous occasion to bid farewell to Dave after 46 years or remarkable service. All of us, who have had the privilege of working alongside him, will fondly remember his important contribution to our work and wonderful stories.

“The team will certainly miss his presence and camaraderie, as is shown by the many heartfelt messages in his card and contributions to a collection made in his honour. We wish him a very happy retirement, and appreciate that he has helped to build some firm foundations for new people to follow in his impressive footsteps.”
